Historic Weaving in Action!

8 February, 11:30 - 16:30
Free
Come see a fully-restored 100-year old Jacquard loom in action, one Sunday per month at the Deutsches Technikmuseum!

The Deutsches Technikmuseum is home to a 100-year old, fully-restored ribbon Jacquard loom. Capable of weaving 18 ribbons simultaneously, this fascinating piece of textile technology is also one of the first examples of punchcard programming.

One Sunday per month the Jacquard is run hourly for visitors, providing an insight into how weaving works, how the Industrial Revolution changed the way we view textiles, and how the punchcard paved the way for modern computing.

Demonstrations are hourly, from 11:30 – 16:30. A museum admission ticket is required, no other booking or reservation is necessary. Museum admission tickets can be purchased in advance on the Deutsches Technikmuseum website, or directly upon arrival.
